Thank you to those that joined the ever growing Post Racing membership last night. It is much appreciated. If I ever use words you don't understand, or suggest punting methods that have you scratching your head, please don't hesitate in contacting me for clarification. You will find advice in my Idiots Guide on my website (no offence!), that should clear up the majority of things.

I had an amazing day yesterday. It was incredibly busy at this end due to he volume of racing and at times it was a bit like spinning plates but those that stayed up produced the goods for me.

For those that did not get involved in Horses for Causes this is what happened.

ASCOT 2-50

OCEANWAY....+23
SOORAAH....+13....2ND 10/1
FRANCES STUART....+10
BEA REMEMBERED....+2
LAW OF THE RANGE....+/-0....WON 12/1
ENTITLED....+/-0

ADVICE - I'm not a fan of three year olds taking on older horses at this time of the season and, for that reason alone, I'll drop OCEANWAY. Imight end up looking a twonk come 2-55pm but that would not be the first time this season!
I'm favouring low drawn so, FRANCES STUART and LAW OF THE RANGE are the mainstay of my dutch and with high muchly prefered to middle, I'll pop SOORAH into that bet.
No place for ENTITLED, who I feel is priced on where she copmes from, as opposed to what she has achieved so far.
My 20/80 is FRANCES STUART and I'll work with this trio for my combo exotics.

RESULT - Superb! I landed my dutch, the 154/1 Exacta and the 120/1 CSF.

ASCOT 3-25

EXCELLENT GUEST....+28
LAYLA'S HERO....+23
RULESN'REGULATIONS....+18
SHAMANDAR....+15
ADVANCED....+10
GOLDEN DESERT....+8

ADVICE - I believe low drawn horses are best here but that makes this very tricky for me. I have just two horses in my top six so drawn...EXCELLENT GUEST....my 20/80....and SHAMANDAR, who looked tasty at two but who has not seen a track for 582 days. They will make up two of my four horse dutch, with two drawn high, just in case something funky happens. RULESN'REGULATIONS and GOLDEN DESERT from my six are priced to play and come into that bet.
For combo exotics I myself will be looking to play those two drawn low permed with those drawn high, to keep those bets down.

In conclusion...a dutch EXCELLENT GUEST, SHAMANDAR, RULESN'REGULATIONS and GOLDEN DESERT, a 20/80 EXCELLENT GUEST and exotics as described above.

RESULT - Called the draw spot on as five of the first six home were all drawn in a single number draw. Unfortunately I didn't find HAWKEYETHENOO, who I had suggested only last week had been a very unlucky loser on his last run. Watch out for SHAMANDAR though, he was finishing this race off well after that long absence and will win races this term.

ASCOT 4-35

BLISSFUL MOMENT....+11....2ND 7/1 > 11/2
ZUIDER ZEE....-3....4TH 11/1 > 8/1
MISTER ANGRY....-3
UDABAA....-8....3RD 4/1
DANSILI DANCER....-9
LICENCE TO TILL....-11

ADVICE - A decent 20/80 BLISSFUL MOMENT, a top three dutch and combo exotics. If ZUIDER ZEE comes out because they are unhappy with the underfoot conditions then UDABAA comes into that bet and I'd not be sorry to see that happen.

RESULT - The ratings were superb here...unfortunately we caught a tarter in ROCK A DOODLE, which I certainly didn't see coming. My top rated looked the winner until that thing zipped through and we got done 3/4 of a length.

ASCOT 5-10

CHIEFDOM PRINCE....+26
STRIKING SPIRIT....+21
BARONS SPY....+13
JOE PACKET....+9
DEACON BLUES....+7
SON OF THE CAT....+/-0

ADVICE - Cracking good race to finish the card off. My top three fulfill all the criteria I've used to put these figures together and I'll play them exactly as they have fallen...top three dutch, a 20/80 CHIEFDOM PRINCE and combo exotics.

RESULT - STRIKING SPIRIT ran a blinder for me but simply ran out of legs, finishing a 2 3/4 length 5th.

LINGFIELD 2-10

PYRRHA....+6....3RD 12/1
FLAMBEAU....+/-0....2ND 8/11
DEVER DREAM....-11
GREEN DANDY....-13
TROPICAL PARADISE....-22
PERFECT TRIBUTE....-26

ADVICE - Again, I'm happy to dutch my top two, have a 20/80 PYRRHA and set after the exotics. Top three for tricast purposes.

RESULT - My top pair ran crackers for me but those Cox horses are flying right now and that did for us. Nice return of the 20/80 PYRRHA though.

LINGFIELD 4-55

BUXTON....+25
WILFRED PICKLES....+18
SPACE STATION....+12
RED YARN....+8
LEADENHALL LASS....-3
SLUGGER O'TOOLE....-7

HAYDOCK 2-00

FOLLY BRIDGE....+24
DUNELIGHT....+22
LOVELACE....+20
BEACON LODGE....-1
KAKATOSI....8
DUFF....-9

This race could fall apart and resemble a Brian Rix farce as rated horses 2 and 4 could be withdrawn if their trainers are not satisfied the going will suit so, until we know, I'll keep my powder dry.
If the status quo remains then I'll go with my top three...dutch, a 20/80 FOLLY BRIDGE and combos.

HAYDOCK 5-20

ONYX OF ARABIA....+8....2ND 25/1
LORD RAGLAN....+7....NR
TARTAN GUNNA....-6
BOURNE....-14....WON 5/6 > 8/11
LEADER OF THE BAND....-19
AZIMUTH....-24

ADVICE - Not a race that gives me a good feel at all. I'll run up my October Rules flag here, I think....top three dutch, 20/80 ONYX OF ARABIA and exotics, to my minimum stakes.

RESULT - Close to a whopping great winner here but what came back off my "80" put a smile on my face, that's for sure! With LORD RAGLAN out I included BOURNE in my bets and somehow managed to pot a 19/1 Exacta and a half decent 26/1 CSF.

NOTTINGHAM 1-50

ATLANTIC BEACH....-9
YURITUNI....-10
BLACK BACCARA....-10
SECRET VENUE....-14
SELECT COMMITTEE....-17
ABSA LUTTE....-26

Low grade and so, low stakes. Top three dutch for me with a 20/80 ATLANTIC BEACH. Combo exotics will be looked at and if the dividends look worth the risk, I'll sort something out.

NOTTINGHAM 2-55

HALLSTATT....-25....2ND 9/4
BOLLIN GRETA....-29....WON 6/1
DAYLAMI DREAMS....-30
SHERNANDO....-34
WILD DESERT....-35
EMRANI....-40

ADVICE - Awful race. Top two dutch, straight win bet HALLSTATT and a reverse exacta/CSF.

RESULT - Awful race indeed but seriously pleased with my reading of it! Dutch, 20/1 Exacta and a nice 18/1 CSF all banked.

NOTTINGHAM 3-30

POPPY SEED....+17....3RD 33/1 > 28/1
KHOR SEED....+13....2ND 11/4
TALLAHASSE....+12
DUBAI MEDIA....+9....5TH 20/1 > 10/1
CAPERCAILLIE....+2....18/1 > 16/1
BOUNTY BOX....+/-0....WON 3/1

ADVICE - Low drawn will struggle here, me thinks. Rated horses 1, 2 and 3 will do for my dutch, I'll go 20/80 POPPY SEED and get after those exotics again, too.

RESULT - Called gthe draw spot on, nothing below five in the first five past the winning post. How close again to a huge priced top rated winner, too! POPPY SEED ran a blinder for me and again, the return of my "80" had me beaming.

THIRSK 6-30

RIVER FALCON....+19....WON 18/1 > 16/1
ACE OF SPIES....+13
MULLGLEN....+12
SEA ROVER....+12
CHOSEN ONE....+10
SIR NOD....+7

ADVICE - Low drawn will be dropped from my bets here so, rated horses 3 and 5 are the main selections for my dutch, high being my preferred. RIVER FALCON comes in to that bet as middle looks ok-ish and I'll make MULLGLEN my 20/80. Combo exotics the same three.
I'm acutely aware that my favourite trainer of handicappers, Ruth Carr, is on fire right now and if you fancy CHOSEN ONE, go with it because everything looks good tonight.

RESULT - Having had so many big priced ones go close during the afternoon, this was nice! My dutch landed so, profit banked.

THIRSK 7-00

GEORGE ADAMSON....+5....WON 7/1
DZESMIN....-8
MANEKI NEKO....-12....3RD 14/1
THE CAPED CRUSADER....-21
PENANGDOUBLE O ONE....-22
GREEN LIGHTNING....-23

ADVICE - My top three look suitable for all bets in this event. Dutch, a 20/80 my top rated and combo exotics....they are my bets.

RESULT - Like bloody buses sometimes, aren't they! A superb top rated winner and a nice 20/80 and dutch secured but just a neck away from yet another seriously nice Exacta/CSF too.

THIRSK 7-30

EMERALDS SPIRIT....+12
LEGAL LEGACY....+6
RAVI RIVER....+5
OUR BOY BARRINGTON....+3
MUJAADEL....-5
MORE THAN MANY....-8

Low drawn looked shackled here and I'm much favouring middle over high.

Rated horses 3, 4 and 5 are my preferred here. Dutch, a 20/80 RAVI RIVER and combo exotics the same three.

THIRSK 8-30

MY FLAME....+13
SILLY GILLY....+7....2ND 14/1
FORTUNATE BID....-6
BECKERMET....-7
THINKING....-12
MAXI MOO....-16

ADVICE - I want low drawn running for me here....middle at a pinch so, a 20/80 SILLY GILLY will be played together with a dutch rated horses 2, 3 and 5 with combo exotics the same three.

RESULT - A few days ago I rated a race in which DHHAMAAN was the suggested 20/80 but, it was the day we lost one of the best trainers of handicappers I've ever known, David Chapman, Ruth Carr's Grandad, which led to her withdrawing all of her horses that day. A mental note was made as everything indicated that horse was "ready". He was a genius and his grandaughter has inherited his skill of getting these horses to do a job. When I first looked at this race I hoped it would top my figures again but, no such luck I'm afraid. I wore a wry smile as my suggested 20/80 failed by a head to get by that one and I have missed a 25/1 winner. That's life and I'll get over it but, what a trainer this lady is!

WARWICK 5-45

BERMONDSEY BOB....-2
MEMPHIS MAN....-6
VOLITO....-8
VALENTINO SWING....-10
WELCOME APPROACH....-10
BOLDINOR....-10

I'm thinking high drawn will have a bit of work to do here and I much prefer low so, a dutch MEMPHIS MAN, VOLITO and WELCOME APPROACH, a 20/80 MEMPHIS MAN and combo exotics.

WARWICK 8-15

MANDHOOMA....+8
SILVER WIND....-9
LORD OF THE DANCE....-16
SIR BRUNO....-20
NEEDWOOD RIDGE....-24
KINGSWINFORD....-26

I will plump for my top three here, dutch, 20/80 the Hiatt mare and combo exotics. Hopefully we finish with a bang!

OF INTEREST

BAISSE (Warwick 7-15) - straight win - WON 5/4
BATED BREATHE (Haydock 4-10) - straight win - WON 9/4

I have to be extremely pleased with everything that happened yesterday and know for sure that my figures are doing their job....I just have to put the right bets together once I have compiled them. The "OF INTEREST" section is flying right now, too and I will be putting together a little piece showing exactly how well that part of my punting is getting along.

TODAY

No racing on the mainland for me to look at, which seems daft if you ask me. I have rated the last race at Leopardstown though and this is how that comes out....

LEOPARDSTOWN 5-15

SKYWAY....+13
DUC DE SAVOIE....+12
SIX OF HEARTS....+3
SIMLA SUNSET....+2
CORNAKILL....+1
TOUFAN EXPRESS....+1

Two clear on my numbers and I will be happy to play that pair dutched. I'd be thinking, on probable draw bias, that DUC DE SAVOIE is the one to concentrate on but, the going is an issue for me, which stops me from getting overly confident in one over the other. The going is perfect for SKYWAY but that nine draw has me wincing.
SIX OF HEARTS looks nailed on to run a biggie but I'm put off by the 11 draw....not insurmountable but, tough. Of the others I prefer TOUFAN EXPRESS, who is a huge price but has a nice draw and will go on the good to firm.

I'll be dutching my top pair, going 2 x 20/80's and bringing in TOUFAN EXPRESS for combo exotics.

OF INTEREST

SUBLIME TALENT (Leoparstown 3-45) - straight win

Have a great day and see you all tomorrow

Kindest regards

I have followed Ron at Post Racing for some time now and I admire him greatly as the guy does all this hard work for Racing charities.

The free emails come in every day without fail and you can donate any time if you make some money from his tips.
p.s if you want Saturday figures you will have to donate, but it's up to you how much to give. If you have had a good week then why not give a few £s for racing charities.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-73317024515480288502011-03-08T21:45:00.000+00:002011-03-08T21:45:09.210+00:00AwfulFor the second time in as many weeks I have managed to select 8 games and only hit 1 winner.
My system has worked incredibly well, but since February things have been poor. I am going to halt the show there as there is no point giving all the money I have made back to the bookies.
I am happy with how the system has been working even though results have not come through on each set as I would like. I am happy with how I am excluding games based on the work I do with the stats, but will continue to look at ways of improving this.

I am monitoring the Premiership and Championship games, and will refine things over the next few weeks. I will not be putting them back into the selection process unless I am 100% happy with them.
Accrington Stanley v Crewe (1.67 Blue Square) WIN +0.67
Cheltenham v Torquay (1.8 Various) WIN +0.80

The system put up Peterborough again, but Colchester have not scored away for 5 consecutive games, so I have not included. Knowing how weak Peterborough are defensively it will probably end 3-2, but I can't do it @ 1.5 (Bet365/SkyBet) 1-1 AFTER 16 MINUTES

When I first started I was worried that introducing Top Leagues was going to be detrimental to the system as the quality of defence and goal keeper in particular are so much higher than the lower leagues.

Although this was not apparent in the testing of the Premiership, we have had a decent run and now things seem to have changed.

I think I need to go back to the beginning and ensure that we go for the best performing bets and revert to what works best.

With that in mind I am pulling Premiership and Championship games for the time being and concentrating on English Leagues One & Two and the Blue Square Premiership.

This will be a problem for those who only bet on Betfair as they do not have a BTTS market for many of the lower league games.

I would suggest that anyone who seriously wants to make money from these bets looks at the value post I did recently and get some money in the main bookies, Blue Square, Bet365 and William Hill should cover the best prices most often. If you could also have something in Coral and Totesport then I would say you were well covered for all the up coming BTTS bets.

We will have more than 6 bets on Tuesday so make sure you have signed up to the free mailing list as I will be sending the selections out this evening, although don't worry if you don't sign up, the selections will appear on this blog at 10am.

Have a great day.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-56739894766760766502011-02-13T21:55:00.000+00:002011-02-13T21:55:17.191+00:00How crap was thatSorry about the title, but wow, 2 bets and 2 tests and I get 100% wrong.

I watched the Everton match and they looked like they couldn't be bothered, not sure what was wrong, but it is never a good sign when the manager sits in the dugout arms folded looking defeated with 25 minutes to go.

I am not going to get upset by that though, I will continue and we will no doubt have more bets to get into in midweek.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-2593537722432492862011-02-13T10:00:00.005+00:002011-02-13T21:52:43.354+00:00Both Teams To Score - 13th February 2011After another little win yesterday we don't have a lot to get into today. I am confident about the ones we have so good luck if you are having a go.

English Premiership

Bolton v Everton (1.75 Blue Square) LOST -1

I am also putting up 2 test bets which look good. I will NOT be betting these matches.

I watched the second half on the Derby match and although Derby were trying they lack the quality needed to get anything against a team like Leicester who look very good. Not a real shock though as Sven has managed to assemble a premiership team as far as the player names is concerned, Yakubu, Vassel etc.

The bank is still healthy and I am happy with the selections, we need a bit more luck and we will be away again, lets hope the Italians bring in some cash tomorrow.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-46561451095234584872011-02-12T10:00:00.007+00:002011-02-12T20:25:42.437+00:00Both Teams To Score - 12th February 2011It's been a few days without much going on for the BTTS bets so it's nice to see a few for Saturday. I suspect we will see more on Sunday too as the Italians are bound to help us out again.

Good Luck

Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-69152814547003890712011-02-08T11:23:00.001+00:002011-02-08T11:24:10.715+00:00I am not going to do itI have run this system by the book so far and it's worked. I was tempted today to look outside of the system as there were no bets to go at.

I have looked at the Johnstone's Paint match involving Huddersfield and Carlisle and feel that is a BTTS YES, but it is a cup match and I will NOT be betting on it.

I have looked at the other English League matches and the only tempting one is Morecambe v Aldershot, but again not a system bet so even though I think it will be a BTTS YES I will not be betting.

So we wait for the weekend perhaps when we can get some points in the bank and move on.

Good Luck if you are punting today.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-14521257402997184352011-02-07T12:16:00.008+00:002011-02-07T12:16:00.181+00:00How do I maximise my profits? There is a debate about using traditional high street bookmakers, online bookmakers and the betting exchanges to place bets. I personally use all 3, with the high street bookmakers a distant 3rd in my choices.

I have accounts with most online bookmakers and with both Betfair and Betdaq betting exchanges so that on any bet I choose to make I can get the best value for it.

Now value is a subject that requires little introduction if you have been betting on sports for a while, but a brief summary is always interesting for the new punter.

Imagine you are going to flip a coin and want to make a profit, you are using a standard coin and would expect there to be a 50/50 split in heads and tails. Now there may be streaks of heads or tails, but over 1000 or 10000 spins the outcome will be very close to 50/50. Imagine for a second that a bookmaker will allow 2.1 on heads and 1.9 on tails for a minute, which bet are you going to take?

If you answered tails, then please email me and I will set up the bet for you at a location of your choice and I will even provide coffee.

So a simple idea tells us that the value is on the coin landing heads up meaning that over the course of the bet I am making 0.10 points of value as statistically this is an even money bet.

So where do we go from here? Well lets look at a BTTS example seeing as that's what we do here.

I have looked for a game that has a market for BTTS playing today and found the Johnstones Paint trophy match between Exeter and Brentford. If you look at the odds available you will notice the YES bet is being offered at 1.80 and 1.62 at the online bookies and Betfair has the market currently available to back YES at 1.76

From that we can work out very quickly that a £10 bet would return £8 profit from the top bookie and £6.20 from Bwin, an 18% difference, now what one are you going to take?

So what about Betfair? well they will often have best prices on markets so well worth a look, but in this case 1.76 after 5% commission charge works out at 1.672 or £6.72 back for our winning £10 bet.

So far on this BTTS blog, I have managed to get best price on every bet I have placed and will continue to take best price. Imagine taking 18% less per bet every time, never you would say, but are there reasons for doing it?

I don't have an account, I don't have any money in that one, I have been with them for years, I only trust so and so, I hate exchanges, etc, etc...

I suggest you look at what you are trying to achieve with your betting, If you want to make a profit then the thin margins we are working with must not be made any smaller. Make a vow to sort this out, only take best price, repeat after me, I will only take best price.

So far over the course of the BTTS bets I have found Blue Square to be the most consistent bookmaker for pricing up BTTS markets and have made more than half of my bets with them. If you are going to open an account then please check out the BetClub link, you will find various ways of making risk free money from bookmaker free bets and offers, add value to your BTTS bets now.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-21696858812588764172011-02-07T08:47:00.001+00:002011-02-07T12:15:13.094+00:00A bit up and downRecent sets have been a bit hit and miss which is dissapointing but we need to keep this in perspective and look back at results from the start. Since starting the betting bank I have increased it by nearly 70% which by any standards is Excellent.

The Italian games are on fire at the moment with another 2 from 2 there, so my testing has been well worth while. I have been a bit slack in testing the other leagues since adding the Serie A games, so need to spend a bit more time looking at the other options.

This week will be a struggle for BTTS with International friendlies and only a few English games, needless to say if I find a game you will know first on the mailing list.

It would be useful to understand what people think about the mailing list, I have had some feedback including someone asking for me to do a results update on the email, but for time purposes I will have to decline that idea and continue to add the results as they come in on the BTTS System Bets page. If you didn't know as results come in (for the most part) I update the WIN or LOSS immediately, often while the match is still in play if we get a quick win like the Inter match last night.

I try get the mailing list sent in the evening prior to the matches, I assume that people would like the selections early so that they can put bets on before leaving for work or going out for whatever reason. I have not always managed this, but have had no complaints so far.

I will always get the selections out to those on the mailing list ahead of the blog, we are not influencing prices at the bookies currently, but in the future I may need to keep the blog post close to kick off times as I don't want to stop you getting the value on offer.

I will do a little post about bookies later on, have a good day.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-18260533215615922892011-02-06T10:00:00.004+00:002011-02-06T20:07:36.184+00:00Both Teams To Score - 6th February 2011After a decent day yesterday lets see if the hype at Chelsea can turn into goals, a decent bet must be Torres to score on debut with the stats supporting both teams scoring so lets see.

Our day was another that went to the wire. Having no success until the second half of games is tough if you are watching the live score feed as I do, it would be easier to just leave it and tot up the points at the end of the day. I just can't seem to pull myself away though.

Tomorrow we should have some more to go at, see you then.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-46169518680699569592011-02-05T10:00:00.002+00:002011-02-05T17:01:38.150+00:00Both Teams To Score - 5th February 2011Quite a few games came up on the system, but the away team not looking good so I have taken a few out leaving 6 matches to go at.

Spurs scoring after 3 minutes gave Blackburn plenty of time to conjure up an equaliser, but was not to be. I have watched the highlights on Sky Sports and they did have a go so just one of those things.

I felt yesterday that the Liverpool match would be a struggle and so it was, I need to review Liverpool matches a bit closer for the next few weeks as they seem to have improved since King Kenny returned. They seem to defend a bit more... not what we need.

A positive was that the Italian match won for us and excluding the other 2 (even though 1 won) was a profitable move.

There will be no BTTS bets coming up until the weekend. See you thenGentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8392995636896865037.post-69720297560536089232011-02-02T14:00:00.001+00:002011-02-02T21:54:03.881+00:00Both Teams To Score - 2nd February 2011ENGLAND

2 System picks and I am going to go with them both although in game 2 I suspect we may see a struggle with Stoke, their away scoring is good having failed to score in only 36% of matches so well in our favour and covered by the odds on offer.

Blackburn v Tottenham (1.75 Totesport, Blue Sq) LOST -1
Liverpool v Stoke (2.1 William Hill) LOST -1

ITALY

I have looked at the games available tonight and although the 'system' has highlighted 3 Serie A matches I am only putting one up:

Udinese v Bologna (1.95 William Hill) WIN +0.95

For information purposes the other matches are Palermo and Sampdoria, but I will not be betting these as their H2H scores are not good enough.

Good luck all.Gentarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041247373929386989noreply@blogger.com0
