BTTS Clean Sweep

A clean sweep for us with 3 from 3 last night and about time too.

I am happy with how the system has been working even though results have not come through on each set as I would like. I am happy with how I am excluding games based on the work I do with the stats, but will continue to look at ways of improving this.

I am monitoring the Premiership and Championship games, and will refine things over the next few weeks. I will not be putting them back into the selection process unless I am 100% happy with them.

Keep an eye out for your email when the next selections come up.

Both Teams To Score - 22nd February 2011

Only 3 games I am happy about this evening...

League One

Dagenham & Redbridge v Huddersfield (1.75 Blue Square) WIN +0.75

League Two

Accrington Stanley v Crewe (1.67 Blue Square) WIN +0.67
Cheltenham v Torquay (1.8 Various) WIN +0.80

The system put up Peterborough again, but Colchester have not scored away for 5 consecutive games, so I have not included. Knowing how weak Peterborough are defensively it will probably end 3-2, but I can't do it @ 1.5 (Bet365/SkyBet) 1-1 AFTER 16 MINUTES

Good Luck

Immediate Review

I don't want to be alarmist, but a review of recent BTTS is required, I may as well not have bet February at all as we have only made 1.5 Points profit, so what is happening and what has changed?

When I first started I was worried that introducing Top Leagues was going to be detrimental to the system as the quality of defence and goal keeper in particular are so much higher than the lower leagues.

Although this was not apparent in the testing of the Premiership, we have had a decent run and now things seem to have changed.

I think I need to go back to the beginning and ensure that we go for the best performing bets and revert to what works best.

With that in mind I am pulling Premiership and Championship games for the time being and concentrating on English Leagues One & Two and the Blue Square Premiership.

This will be a problem for those who only bet on Betfair as they do not have a BTTS market for many of the lower league games.

I would suggest that anyone who seriously wants to make money from these bets looks at the value post I did recently and get some money in the main bookies, Blue Square, Bet365 and William Hill should cover the best prices most often. If you could also have something in Coral and Totesport then I would say you were well covered for all the up coming BTTS bets.

We will have more than 6 bets on Tuesday so make sure you have signed up to the free mailing list as I will be sending the selections out this evening, although don't worry if you don't sign up, the selections will appear on this blog at 10am.

Have a great day.

How crap was that

Sorry about the title, but wow, 2 bets and 2 tests and I get 100% wrong.

I watched the Everton match and they looked like they couldn't be bothered, not sure what was wrong, but it is never a good sign when the manager sits in the dugout arms folded looking defeated with 25 minutes to go.

I am not going to get upset by that though, I will continue and we will no doubt have more bets to get into in midweek.

Both Teams To Score - 13th February 2011

After another little win yesterday we don't have a lot to get into today. I am confident about the ones we have so good luck if you are having a go.

English Premiership

Italian Serie A

I am also putting up 2 test bets which look good. I will NOT be betting these matches.

French - Valenciennes v Brest (2.2) Lost

Spain - Espanyol v Real Madrid (1.83) Lost

A win is a win

The odds on today's matches were awful, but I am not surprised on some, any game involving Peterborough, who are almost a must BTTS bet at the moment.

I watched the second half on the Derby match and although Derby were trying they lack the quality needed to get anything against a team like Leicester who look very good. Not a real shock though as Sven has managed to assemble a premiership team as far as the player names is concerned, Yakubu, Vassel etc.

The bank is still healthy and I am happy with the selections, we need a bit more luck and we will be away again, lets hope the Italians bring in some cash tomorrow.

Both Teams To Score - 12th February 2011

It's been a few days without much going on for the BTTS bets so it's nice to see a few for Saturday. I suspect we will see more on Sunday too as the Italians are bound to help us out again.

English Premiership

  • Blackburn v Newcastle (1.8) LOST -1
  • Sunderland v Tottenham (1.91) WIN +0.91

English Championship

  • Derby v Leicester (1.67) LOST -1

English League One

  • Charlton v Peterborough (1.44) WIN +0.44
  • Rochdale v Sheffield Wednesday (1.67) WIN +0.67

English League Two

  • Accrington v Southend (1.75)
  • Crewe v Gillingham (1.57) WIN +0.57

I am not going to do it

I have run this system by the book so far and it's worked. I was tempted today to look outside of the system as there were no bets to go at.

I have looked at the Johnstone's Paint match involving Huddersfield and Carlisle and feel that is a BTTS YES, but it is a cup match and I will NOT be betting on it.

I have looked at the other English League matches and the only tempting one is Morecambe v Aldershot, but again not a system bet so even though I think it will be a BTTS YES I will not be betting.

So we wait for the weekend perhaps when we can get some points in the bank and move on.

Good Luck if you are punting today.

How do I maximise my profits?

There is a debate about using traditional high street bookmakers, online bookmakers and the betting exchanges to place bets. I personally use all 3, with the high street bookmakers a distant 3rd in my choices.

I have accounts with most online bookmakers and with both Betfair and Betdaq betting exchanges so that on any bet I choose to make I can get the best value for it.

Now value is a subject that requires little introduction if you have been betting on sports for a while, but a brief summary is always interesting for the new punter.

Imagine you are going to flip a coin and want to make a profit, you are using a standard coin and would expect there to be a 50/50 split in heads and tails. Now there may be streaks of heads or tails, but over 1000 or 10000 spins the outcome will be very close to 50/50. Imagine for a second that a bookmaker will allow 2.1 on heads and 1.9 on tails for a minute, which bet are you going to take?

If you answered tails, then please email me and I will set up the bet for you at a location of your choice and I will even provide coffee.

So a simple idea tells us that the value is on the coin landing heads up meaning that over the course of the bet I am making 0.10 points of value as statistically this is an even money bet.

So where do we go from here? Well lets look at a BTTS example seeing as that's what we do here.

I have looked for a game that has a market for BTTS playing today and found the Johnstones Paint trophy match between Exeter and Brentford. If you look at the odds available you will notice the YES bet is being offered at 1.80 and 1.62 at the online bookies and Betfair has the market currently available to back YES at 1.76

From that we can work out very quickly that a £10 bet would return £8 profit from the top bookie and £6.20 from Bwin, an 18% difference, now what one are you going to take?

So what about Betfair? well they will often have best prices on markets so well worth a look, but in this case 1.76 after 5% commission charge works out at 1.672 or £6.72 back for our winning £10 bet.

So far on this BTTS blog, I have managed to get best price on every bet I have placed and will continue to take best price. Imagine taking 18% less per bet every time, never you would say, but are there reasons for doing it?

I don't have an account, I don't have any money in that one, I have been with them for years, I only trust so and so, I hate exchanges, etc, etc...

I suggest you look at what you are trying to achieve with your betting, If you want to make a profit then the thin margins we are working with must not be made any smaller. Make a vow to sort this out, only take best price, repeat after me, I will only take best price.

So far over the course of the BTTS bets I have found Blue Square to be the most consistent bookmaker for pricing up BTTS markets and have made more than half of my bets with them. If you are going to open an account then please check out the BetClub link, you will find various ways of making risk free money from bookmaker free bets and offers, add value to your BTTS bets now.

A bit up and down

Recent sets have been a bit hit and miss which is dissapointing but we need to keep this in perspective and look back at results from the start. Since starting the betting bank I have increased it by nearly 70% which by any standards is Excellent.

The Italian games are on fire at the moment with another 2 from 2 there, so my testing has been well worth while. I have been a bit slack in testing the other leagues since adding the Serie A games, so need to spend a bit more time looking at the other options.

This week will be a struggle for BTTS with International friendlies and only a few English games, needless to say if I find a game you will know first on the mailing list.

It would be useful to understand what people think about the mailing list, I have had some feedback including someone asking for me to do a results update on the email, but for time purposes I will have to decline that idea and continue to add the results as they come in on the BTTS System Bets page. If you didn't know as results come in (for the most part) I update the WIN or LOSS immediately, often while the match is still in play if we get a quick win like the Inter match last night.

I try get the mailing list sent in the evening prior to the matches, I assume that people would like the selections early so that they can put bets on before leaving for work or going out for whatever reason. I have not always managed this, but have had no complaints so far.

I will always get the selections out to those on the mailing list ahead of the blog, we are not influencing prices at the bookies currently, but in the future I may need to keep the blog post close to kick off times as I don't want to stop you getting the value on offer.

I will do a little post about bookies later on, have a good day.

Another winning BTTS set

An amazing day in the Premiership where all but one game would have won for BTTS, but it was exceptional.

Our day was another that went to the wire. Having no success until the second half of games is tough if you are watching the live score feed as I do, it would be easier to just leave it and tot up the points at the end of the day. I just can't seem to pull myself away though.

Tomorrow we should have some more to go at, see you then.

Both Teams To Score - 5th February 2011

Quite a few games came up on the system, but the away team not looking good so I have taken a few out leaving 6 matches to go at.

English Championship

Leeds v Coventry (1.75 Blue Sq) LOST -1

English League One

Exeter v Huddersfield (1.75 Blue Sq) WIN +0.75
Sheffield Wednesday v MK Dons (1..73 Totesport) WIN +0.73

Not so good

I am a bit annoyed at last night, but that's football.

Spurs scoring after 3 minutes gave Blackburn plenty of time to conjure up an equaliser, but was not to be. I have watched the highlights on Sky Sports and they did have a go so just one of those things.

I felt yesterday that the Liverpool match would be a struggle and so it was, I need to review Liverpool matches a bit closer for the next few weeks as they seem to have improved since King Kenny returned. They seem to defend a bit more... not what we need.

A positive was that the Italian match won for us and excluding the other 2 (even though 1 won) was a profitable move.

There will be no BTTS bets coming up until the weekend. See you then
